Emerging Leaders Accepts Applications for 2012-13

Emerging Leaders, a program of Lenawee United Way, is accepting applications for the 2012-13 year. Emerging Leaders is an eight month leadership development program for young professionals age 22-35. The mission of Emerging Leaders is to develop leadership skills that can be employed in the workplace as well as in the community. Participants will learn from community leaders and local experts, providing an opportunity for networking and socialization.

Some of the topics that are covered in the program include public speaking, conflict resolution, time management/balance, how to be a board member, developing leadership in others, finding hidden treasures in Lenawee County, generational communication, and how to run a functional meeting. The topics/sessions may be personalized to meet the needs of the group.

Community Fund Distribution

In addition to the community impact grant funded programs, funding is available annually to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that  provide programs and services to local residents in the Addison, Blissfield, Britton, Clinton, Deerfield, Hudson, Morenci, Onsted, Sand Creek, and Tecumseh communities.

In 2011, $47,267 was distributed to 21 local programs!

Applications for 2012 will be available in early summer on Lenawee United Way's website.

Funding recommendations will then be made to the Lenawee United Way Board of Directors by a committee of local volunteers from each community.

The Community Fund Distribution process has been a part of the mission of Lenawee United Way as a way of reaching the needs specific to each community to create a measurably better life for the people of Lenawee County.
